Jet pumps are powerful devices that are capable of withstanding all kinds of motive fluids such as steam, liquid or gas. These pumps are usually inserted vertically into processing media, but can also be inserted horizontally according to requirement. There are multiple inlets used with these pumps in order to develop a constant stream of fluids with use of pressure. This pressure is generated within pumps so as to lift the liquids or other substances through suction. The level of intake pressure of substance that is to be supplied through the pump lifts it up from tank, well or pit to the discharge point with help of the pump.

The functioning of these pumps is based on Bernoulli theorem according to which velocity and pressure are measured at points in diffuser, suction chamber and nozzle along with particular gravity level of fluids that are to be discharged. The NPSH or net positive suction head is measured as distance from centerline of the jet pumps and total depth length of the storage space. Other factors such as particular gravity of fluids, temperature level and pressure rate also play key role in measuring the amount of NPSH.

There are different types of these pumps available for use such as shallow well, multi-stage, deep well and convertible and mini stage. Out of such forms the deep well pumps are used for high volume applications like oil wells where the depth volume of 800 to 15,000 ft deep. The shallow well pumps on other hand are used for applications where the media is closer to surface level like residential wells. The convertible jet pumps are powerful units that can be employed with shallow or deep well applications. The miniature pumps on other hand are preferred for smaller applications like aquariums.

These pumps are mostly employed for applications where the material that is to be pumped is assisted in generating motive force which is required to move through pump system. For instance, in applications associated with marine water these pumps are used for transferring seawater. These pumps are also considered as circulators or mixers as the fluids intake by them is combined. These pumps are also known as ejector pumps as they are also used for moving wastewater upward to the sewer line. In order to turn on the pump it is inbuilt with switch and float level sensor. Besides this, the pumps may also be incorporated with strainers, impellers, filters or motor.

The jet pumps can therefore be employed to meet varied kinds of applications with ease.
